This section of cvbirds.org is designed as an objective service that highlights recent books and other media of interest to members of the CVBC and to all readers of these webpages. The CVBC Bulletin started publishing book reviews in 2001, and emphasizes books dealing with birds and birding in North America, and also those books of a broader scale that include a significant North American component. Bulletin reviews are subsequently posted here on cvbirds.org.

However, it soon became apparent that there was interest in reviews of books and other media that covered all aspects of birds and birding worldwide, as many members travel widely in search of birds. As the Bulletin focuses on the Central Valley, and as space there is limited, reviews of matter outside the parameters mentioned above are posted here on cvbirds.org. These reviews tend to place a strong emphasis on international books that deal primarily with identification, distribution, and status. Reviews are posted on this site approximately in the order in which the product appeared on the market, with the most recent first.

Reviews for possible publication either in the Bulletin or cvbirds.org, are welcomed; please first contact Jon King (king@prbo.org), who edits and coordinates reviews on behalf of the CVBC.
